What do you mean by printable DIY?


Most of our designs are supplied as computer files for you to print yourself, either at home or by taking to your local professional printer. In many cases we don't supply a finished printed product, just the file. The product name will clearly state "printable file."

 

Why printable files?

Well, it can save you quite a bit of money. There are no postage fees involved and it's fast. You're free to choose your own print method from home printing, commercial flat printing, to something a little more fancy like letterpress. It's up to you! It also opens up more options in terms of size and paper, giving you greater control over the finished product. And perhaps most importantly - you can have more fun doing it yourself.

 

How long will it take?


Some designs are available as instant downloads, itmes that request customisation will of course take longer. Place your order and within 2-3 working days, usually sooner, a professional graphic designer will put together your artwork and send a file via email. In many cases such as wedding stationery, you will be emailed a proof to check first. Allow a little extra time for any tweaks, each change requested to a proof may take up to 2 working days to make at busy times. Once we have your approval we email you a print ready file.

It's a good idea to allow about a week for the whole process. Please ensure you have your date and venue booked before ordering invitations. 

Office hours are Monday - Friday 9am to 5pm AEST. We are closed weekends. We are an Australian based business so please bear in mind the time difference. If you place an order Friday morning in the US, we've already gone home for the weekend, so don't panic we'll get right onto your order when we are back in the office.

Custom jobs can take longer depending on the complexity of the design requested, but we will try to get you your first proof in a week.

 

How do I change the text?

Don't worry we do that for you! You can leave your custom wording in the box, located below each product under "SUPPLY YOUR WORDING." Click save and add the product to your shopping cart. Any wording shown on a design can be changed. If you need a little more time to think about it just email the wording through later to wording{at}idoityourself.com.au along with your order number and name.

 

Can you customise the colours, fonts or design?

Alternative colour options are available for all of our designs, these are shown as swatches next to each product. Some designs are more flexible than others and in most cases it doesn't affect the price.

We have selected fonts that we feel work best with the design, but if you have your heart set on a certain font it can be changed at an additional charge of $5 per file.

What paper should I use?


We recommend using a quality thick paper for wedding stationery and accessories. A card stock around 200-250gsm is great, that's about 140lbs. For more information about this see our paper and printing section.

 

What envelopes should I use?

Suggested envelope sizes are shown in the details section of each product. If you already have your envelopes and would like us to tweak a design to fit - just ask. See our list below for suggested envelope sellers.

 

Can I have my file printed at a shop, local or online printer?

Absolutely! If you don't think your home printer is up to the task or you just don't feel like printing it all yourself we can supply files for you to take to your local professional printer or print shop at no extra charge. You will be asked to choose your print method before we send any final files.

If you change your mind after the files have been sent and want to use a different print method, in many cases we will need to resupply and there will be a small $10 charge to reset the artwork. Can I get a printed sample?


As each person prints out their own stationery using different printers and different paper, we don't supply printed samples. You can however download a test invitation by clicking here.

 

Can I use a design for a different event?

No problem, don't feel restricted by the category. If you see a design you like they could be adapted to weddings, bridal showers, parties, birthdays, baby showers and more. It's up to you, just supply your wording.

 

Can I supply text in a different language?


As long as it doesn't require special fonts it should be ok. Make sure your instructions are very clear, as we probably wont know where to start a new line or if something should be capitalised for example. So far we have designed in Spanish, French and German. Some language changes such as Hebrew or Chinese will incur additional fees so please check with us first.

 

I can't open the proof you sent.


We generally send files as PDFs that you will need to view in Adobe Reader, you can download it for free here if you don't already have it. If you would prefer a jpg file please let us know when you order.

 

What is your refunds policy? 


We are confident that you will be happy with the quality of our products, but in the event of a problem please contact us within two weeks of receiving your design. After a proof has been sent we cannot give refunds based on customer input errors such as typos, not allowing enough time for completion of the work or simply changing your mind.

If a proof is supplied it is the customers responsibly to check this carefully and ensure we have interpreted your requests correctly. We will happily make any further tweaks or corrections that need to be made at this stage until you are completely happy with the design. If further changes are requested after the proof has been approved by the customer and final file sent, additional charges may be incurred. 


In the case of an 'i do' it yourself error, please accept our sincere apologies and be assured that we will remedy the mistake as quickly as possible. Once notified we will aim to supply a new design as soon as possible, offer you a refund or credit towards a future purchase. We reserve the right to reject any returns and exchanges that do not meet these conditions.

 

Helpful printing links

Don't think your home printer is up to the task? If you're looking for somewhere to print our designs, we recommend you transfer your files to a usb or flash drive and visit your local printer or copy shop (you may even be able to just email them through). This way you can talk face to face with an expert, choose the look and feel the paper they will printed on and even the printing method.
