The team behind I Do It Yourself
I Do It Yourself is a small team of working tradies and serious DIYers from across Australia. Every walkthrough on this site is written by someone who’s actually done the job — usually hundreds of times — in real Aussie homes. We don’t aggregate, we don’t summarise other blogs, and we don’t write about jobs we haven’t done with our own tools.

How we work together
Each team member writes for the categories where they have actual trade or DIY experience. Mick handles assembly, mounting, and home repairs from his Newcastle base. Jen runs a small painting business in Melbourne. Tomo is a licensed Brisbane plumber who only writes the safe-DIY side of plumbing — the bits home owners can legally do. Ash does the same on the electrical side from Adelaide. Priya covers cleaning out of Sydney’s inner west, and Cal handles outdoor and landscaping from Perth.
If a job spans more than one trade — say, a bathroom renovation that needs both Tomo’s plumbing know-how and Jen’s painting technique — we’ll co-write or cross-reference. We never publish a walkthrough where the writer doesn’t know the work.
